The death toll in Wayanad rose to around 250, and hundreds of people are still missing.
Rahul Gandhi and his sister, Priyanka Gandhi, visited there to meet families affected by the recent landslides, personally. As they are competing in the upcoming by-elections.

On July 30, the landslides hit Mundakkai and Churalmala in Wayanad and destroyed the area.
Latest updates of Wayanad landslides
- On Thursday, an all-party meeting will be held in Wayanad by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to discuss the ongoing situation and rescue operation. The meeting will be attended by the State ministers, Wayanad MLAs, and political party leaders.
- Kerala governor Arif Mohammed Khan called landslides "colossal tragedy" and showed sympathy for the people who are affected by the situation.
- Financial assistance asked everyone to contribute to the Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF). He said that leading industrialist Ravi Pillai, Lulu Group Chairman M A Yusuff Ali, Kalyan Jewellers owner Kalyana Raman, KSFE, and the Adani Group have announced financial support to the tune of ₹5 crore each.
- 190-foot-long Bailey Bridge construction is in progress, which connects the affected areas of Mundakkai and Chooralmala, enhancing rescue operations.
- Around 1,386 people were saved by the rescue team, of whom 559 were women, 528 were men and 299 were children, and they were relocated to seven camps. 201 people are hospitalized, with 90 still undergoing treatment. The army, navy, and coast guard continue to search at Mundakkai, Churalmala, and Attamala.
