Rahul Dravid’s “Indira nagar ka gunda hoon m” breaks the internet

Rahul Dravid has shocked his fans and made the internet go bonkers for his new avatar in an advertisement for a credit card bill payment platform, CRED. The advertisement features an angry Rahul Dravid, which if you are a fan of cricket would know is very unlike the legendary cricketer.
The cricketing stalwart is popularly known as ‘The wall’ or ‘The Great Indian Wall’ for his exceptional cricketing talent to remain on the pitch like a fortress battling out attacks of bowlers. The former Indian team captain is known for his patience, cool demeanour and soft speaking style both on and off the pitch. To now see him in a polar opposite avatar in the advert has caused hysteria amongst his fans, making him an internet sensation.
The advertisement shows Dravid stuck in a traffic jam venting out his frustration on the people stuck in the traffic, throwing coffee on the window of the next car, hitting someone’s rear view mirror with a bat, venting anger at his steering wheel, abusing autorickshaws and inciting people to fight with him and the best part of it all shouting “Indira nagar ka gunda hoon m” through the sunroof of his car.
All these antics showed in the advert provide a contrast to Dravid’s gentleman image which is both hilarious and refreshing to see. Fans took to social media platforms to appreciate the advert and share memes of the same, the video gained millions of views within hours certifying how much fans loved this new side of Dravid.
Even Brands could not stop themselves from making light of the video on Twitter.
Even the current Indian cricket team skipper, Virat Kohli could not resist from sharing the video of the advert and expressing his shock.
The advertisement has been written by AIB fame comedian Tanmay and his colleagues shared how Dravid was ‘one of the nicest, politest people’ he has ever met. The director of the advert, Ayappa Km disclosed, “Every time Rahul Dravid would scream, every single time he screamed, he would cover his forehead with his hands. Like ‘What am I doing? Why am I doing this?’” he added, “A guy out of his comfort zone… That was so entertaining to watch.”
