Indian-origin UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been named for the first time as the winner of the Queen Elizabeth II Woman of the Year award during a ceremony in London. . Suella, 42, was inducted into her cabinet this month by British Prime Minister Liz Truss. Speaking on the occasion, Suella said that it is an honor for her to play a new role at the Asian Achievers Awards (AAA) 2022 ceremony. He dedicated the award to the late Queen, who passed away recently.

Braverman, the London-born daughter of Tamil mother Uma and Goa-born father Christy Fernandes, sent a recorded message at the ceremony. In this ceremony his parents collected the award on his behalf. He said in the message, 'My mom and dad came here from Kenya and Mauritius in this country in the 1960s. They have been proud members of our Asian community.
