QS World University Rankings Out, IISc Is The Best Research University In The World
Quacquarelli Symonds' QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings (QS).The QS system includes the global overall and subject rankings (which recognize the world's best universities for the study of 51 individual subjects and five composite faculty areas), as well as five separate regional tables, thanks to a partnership with Elsevier.

In the current QS World University Rankings 2022, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, IIT Delhi, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru remained to top the country. These three colleges were also the only ones from India to make the top 200 worldwide. Overall, IISc has been ranked third best in India, with IIT Bombay and Delhi ranking first & second, respectively.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Oxford, and Stanford University are the top three universities globally, ranked one, two, and three, respectively. Aside from citations per professor, the faculty/student ratio — a proxy for teaching capacity — is one of the main characteristics used to determine rankings. The global student body indicates expected class sizes at their chosen university by dividing student numbers by faculty numbers.
In the area of "Research Citations per Faculty," IIT Guwahati was rated 41st in the newly-released QS World University Rankings 2022. Aside from the 41st position, the institute is ranked 395th globally in the World University Rankings.
IIT Madras has climbed 20 places to joint-255th place, its highest ranking since 2017. IIT-Kharagpur is ranked 280th, while IIT-Guwahati, which is placed joint-395th, has made its maiden appearance worldwide top-400.
While IIT Hyderabad, ranked in the 591-600 range, is celebrating its first year in the top 600, Jawaharlal Nehru University, ranked in the 561-570 range, is making its debut in the QS World University Rankings.
Only six of India's 35 institutions improved QS's faculty/student ratio index, while 23 saw reductions. In terms of faculty-to-student ratio, no Indian university is among the top 250. Twenty of India's 35 entrants improved their QS' academic reputation assessment scores, indicating that Indian universities have made steady improvements.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has been ranked first globally for the 10th year in a row. For the first time since 2006, the University of Oxford has risen to second place, while Stanford University and the University of Cambridge are tied for third place. The QS rating, together with the Academic Ranking of World Universities and Times Higher Education, is regarded as one of the three most frequently read university rankings in the world, having earned approval from the International Ranking Expert Group (IREG).
