Punjab Officials Raid Momo Factory, Discover Severed Dog’s Head in Fridge
After hygiene raids, health officials in Mohali found a severed dog's head in the fridge during inspection of a food factory operating in the area for over two years.

Discover Severed Dog’s Head in Fridge: Authorities are reportedly having a deep dive investigation concerning a momo and spring roll factory in Mohali, Punjab, after the unearthing of a dog's severed head in one of the fridges during the raid. The disturbing discovery comes on the heels of a wider clampdown on insalubrious food production units in the region, catalyzed by viral footage of the factory's abominable and insanitary conditions.

The factory situated at Mataur had been supplying over a quintal of momos and spring rolls each day for the past two years into Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Kalka area.
Authorities were alerted after disturbing video footage circulated on social media about workers cooking in dirty water with rotten vegetable remains.
Nevertheless, the officials clarified that the dog was not used for food preparation, but workers of Nepali origin consumed the animal, as reported by India Today.

The head has been sent to the Veterinary Department to analyze whether dog meat has been incorporated into any form of product.
For the unauthorized slaughter, Mohali municipal corporation slapped ₹12,000 as fine on the owner, along with another ₹10,000 for hoarding plastic bags.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh emphasized, "Taking strong action against unhygienic conditions in the food unit, teams of health department and MC raided the premises on Monday. Other than issuing challans, we will also ascertain if such food units have trade licences for such operations in the village area and will take appropriate action against them. The main concern is to save the public from eating unhealthy food."
