Punjab Congress has recently issued a press release. It states that the party has suspended its Lok Sabha MP from Patiala, Preneet Kaur, from the party. It is being told that Preneet Kaur, wife of Captain Amarinder Singh and former Lok Sabha MP from Patiala, was involved in anti-party activities, due to which the party has sent a 'show cause notice' expelling her. Several Congress leaders have also confirmed that Preneet Kaur has been suspended from the party.
The press release issued said that PCC President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring has complained to the Congress President that Preneet Kaur was doing many activities in opposition to the party to help the BJP. The party was continuously receiving such complaints. The AICC was asked to take immediate action in this matter. The DAC considered this and suspended Preneet Kaur from the party with immediate effect. Also, it has been told in the press release that Preneet Kaur has been given three days to explain why she should not be expelled from the party.
Many close relatives of Preneet Kaur were involved in the BJP, after which the Congress party demanded that Preneet Kaur should be thrown out of the party. Recently, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa had said that Preneet Kaur is not a part of the Congress. She is not leaving the party due to some technical reasons and fear of cancellation of Lok Sabha membership, but it would be wrong for people to believe that Preneet Kaur is a member of the party. Along with this, Randhawa had said that if Preneet Kaur has some self-respect left, she should leave the party herself.
