Days after the formation of Samyukta Samaj Morcha (SSM) was announced by a section of farm unions in Punjab, the newly formed organization seems to have gone into some bad shape. Especially its leader Balbir Singh Rajewal is facing many charges.
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and actor-turned-activist Deep Sidhu have both accused Rajewal of trying to "make an agreement" with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on agricultural laws.
They are purportedly referring to a letter written by Rajewal to Shah, stating that only the Farmers Produce and Trade Act has to be repealed. The purported letter was made public by Amarjit Singh Rara, leader of the Doaba Kisan Samiti. However, Rajewal has not yet responded to the allegations.
Bharatiya Kisan Union (Revolutionary) leader Surjit Singh Phool accused SSM of misusing funds to promote his political organization for United Kisan Morcha IT Cell. SSM has denied the allegation.
