The Jharkhand High Court has sought a detailed reply from the state government on the violence that took place in Ranchi on June 10. The state government has been asked to furnish complete details on several points. The court asked, 'For example, how many bullets did the police fire on the protesters and how many people died and how many were injured due to this? How did so many stones get accumulated for the nuisance? Why didn't the police use the water fountain, tear gas, and lathi charge before firing? The police have spoken of firing in the air, but how can anyone get seriously injured? One of the accused is shot in the neck, while in this condition the police shoot in the leg.
On June 10, there were incidents of violence and nuisance in Ranchi to protest against the statement of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. The police had opened fire to stop the miscreants.
A person named Pankaj Kumar Yadav has filed a petition demanding an NIA inquiry into this incident of violence. In the petition, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Social Democratic Party of India General Secretary Yasmin Farooqui along with Ranchi Deputy Commissioner, SSP, Chief Secretary, NIA, and ED have been made respondents. The court has been urged to order the demolition of the house of the accused as per the Jharkhand Destruction of Property and Damage Prevention Bill, 2016. In this, calling the Ranchi incident sponsored, it has been urged to find out which organization funded the incident.
