Priyanka Gandhi wrote a letter to Navjot Singh Sidhu, discussing getting a big responsibility after punishment
Sidhu contested from the Amritsar East assembly seat, where senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia and Aam Aadmi Party candidate Jeevanjot Kaur were in the fray. Jeevanjot Kaur won this seat. On the other hand, after the crushing defeat of the Congress in Punjab, party president Sonia Gandhi took Sidhu's resignation from the post of state president. Later Amarinder Singh Raja Warding was handed over the command of the State Congress.

There is talk of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi sending a letter to Navjot Singh Sidhu, the former Punjab state president of the party lodged in Patiala Jail. Although it is not confirmed, but according to sources, it has been written in the letter that Sidhu will be given a bigger responsibility after the sentence.
It is noteworthy that Navjot Singh Sidhu is currently serving one year sentence in Patiala Jail in the 34-year-old case of road rage. Sidhu went to jail in May 2022 and has completed six months of his sentence. He will be released from prison after completion of his sentence in May 2023. After this, he can again be seen in a big role in the party.
Navjot Sidhu was the state president of the party at the time of the Punjab Assembly elections held in February this year, but the Congress had contested the election with former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi as its chief ministerial face. Differences also came to the fore between Sidhu and Channi regarding this. Channi contested from two seats in the election, but lost from both the seats.
