Priyanka Chopra stresses more investment on women and child health, education and safety
Priyanka Chopra said that I am very happy to know that after the efforts of the Central and State Government, women are now protesting against violence and wrong things through programs run in collaboration with UNICEF, their voices should be heard in the society. Gender based discrimination is now decreasing in many places. Priyanka said that only educated, healthy and strong girls can build a better society.

Actress and UNICEF Global Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra Jonas was in Lucknow for two days during her visit to India. Here Priyanka took information about the programs run by the state government, women and child health, education, nutrition security, etc., at the centers in collaboration with UNICEF. During this, Priyanka met the victims of domestic violence, told how she is openly speaking in the midst of social and family pressure. Women and girls are also making themselves self-reliant by facing challenges, which Priyanka appreciated a lot.

Priyanka also reached 1090 call center operated in Lucknow in collaboration with UNICEF. All the major cities of the state have been connected through the 1090 Women Power Helpline run by the UP Police, due to which the police help the women by reaching the site of the incident on any information of harassment or violence. Priyanka said that with the launch of the Women Helpline, more women are now raising their voice against violence, increasing reporting of the case is a proof that the social pressure is now reducing, we have to live with dignity and with that no one. There should not be any kind of mental, social and physical violence.
UNICEF's representative in India, Cynthia McCaffrey, said gender equality helps build a better safe, educated and developing society. Through health, education, equal opportunities and skill development training, girls can make a big difference in the society. Big change can be made by investing more in teenage boys and girls. During the Lucknow visit, Priyanka also visited the Learning by Doing and IBT (Introduction to Basic Technology) program conducted in primary school Aurangabad in collaboration with the State Government and UNICEF. Through this program, children learn skill development techniques in the school itself, due to which they do not miss school. During the interaction with the children, Priyanka said how children are doing new experiments by learning technology through skill programme. Priyanka said that at the center I met a child named Zakir who was learning to make jam and chocolate, while a girl named Mamta prepared special shoes for the blind, all this is really amazing, gender discrimination is decreasing. However, technology and communication are now being used even in remote areas, due to which the quality of life is improving.
