Priyanka Chopra-starrer ‘The White Tiger’ premieres at Netflix after Delhi HC refuses to pass a stay order
The Delhi High Court refused to stay the release of the movie on January 21 just a day before its release on Over The Top (OTT) platform Netflix.

The Delhi High Court refused to stay the release of the movie on January 21 just a day before its release on Over The Top (OTT) platform Netflix.
The movie ‘The White Tiger’ is based on the Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name authored by Aravind Adiga. It stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gourav in lead roles.
An American film and theatre producer, John N Hart Jr had filed an application in which he had alleged the copyright violation issues.
He had claimed that he bought the copyright from the writer Aravind Adiga in 2009 for the adaptation of the movie.
However, the court dismissed it saying they were aware of the movie and its release but didn’t raise the issue for more than one and a half years.
The movie is a story of an ambitious driver from a rich Indian family who “uses his wit and cunning to escape from poverty and become an entrepreneur,” The OTT platform informs on its website. It is “based on the bestselling novel,” it adds.
Besides acting in the film, Priyanka Chopra is also an executive producer along with Ava DuVernay who is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker.
While tweeting about the film on December 20, DuVernay wrote. “'When I first saw him, I knew this was the master for me.' What a line. Proud to be a part of the team to share Ramin Bahrani's THE WHITE TIGER, based on the Booker Prize-winning novel by Aravind Adiga. Roaring onto Netflix globally on January 22."
