Prince Charles: India's Solar Power Efforts Set An Example For The Rest Of The World
"I believe there are certain crucial areas we can work together to expedite our efforts and achieve a more sustainable future, given India's global reach and vibrant private sector. To begin, we must concentrate on increasing the flow of private finance to help with the transformation," Prince Charles remarked.

According to Britain's Prince Charles, India, whose solar power efforts set an example for the rest of the world, has a significant role to play in the worldwide quest for nature-based and technology-driven solutions that are critical to speeding up the transition to a zero-carbon future.
In a special address at the India Global Forum session on Climate Action, the 72-year-old heir to the British throne and environmental campaigner urged Indian entrepreneurs and CEOs to join the Sustainable Markets India Council, which was established to seek out sustainable investments to influence an acceleration toward climate action goals.
"I believe there are certain crucial areas we can work together to expedite our efforts and achieve a more sustainable future, given India's global reach and vibrant private sector. To begin, we must concentrate on increasing the flow of private finance to help with the transformation," Prince Charles remarked.
"I'm aware that renewable energy, particularly solar power, is fast gaining momentum in India and that it serves as an outstanding model for the rest of the globe," he said.
Royal highlighted the goals of his Sustainable Markets Initiative, which he began in January 2020 with the goal of bringing CEOs from practically every sector together to identify roadblocks to development and devise game-changing solutions to hasten the transition to a zero-carbon future.
Large finance gaps in green energy, water, sanitation, transportation, and other key infrastructure have been found as a result of the work.
Explaining his Sustainable Markets Initiative, he stated, "I introduced the Terra Carta in January of this year as the mandate of my initiative and the foundation of a recovery plan for the environment, people, and the planet. The Terra Carta provides a path for accelerating toward a truly sustainable future, one that harnesses the force of nature paired with revolutionary innovation and resources from the private sector, at this historic tipping point."
The necessity for a defined set of "global farm indicators" to develop sustainable supply chains was emphasised by Prince Charles.
Given agriculture is so important to the Indian economy, he believes there is a great chance to look into how such measurements could help farmers' lives and livelihoods, as well as wider supply networks and marketplaces.
And, considering India's status as a global centre of technology and innovation, as well as its profound connection to nature and harmony, you play a critical part in this endeavour. Especially considering India's abundance of entrepreneurial potential, he said, adding that India would play an important role in developing these efforts at the COP26 UN climate summit, which the UK will host in Glasgow in November.
The India Global Forum held its Climate Action session, a two-day hybrid conference organised, on Wednesday and Thursday, by the UK-based India Inc. Group.
