President Ram Nath Kovind To Get 1st Dose Of COVID-19 Vaccine Tomorrow

Several prominent political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Heath Minister Harsh Vardhan, have already taken the vaccines. Rajnath Singh was the first person to get a COVID-19 vaccine at the Army Hospital on Tuesday.

President Ram Nath Kovind will be administered the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at the Army hospital (Research and Referral) in New Delhi on Wednesday. The President will be getting his first shot as the country's vaccination campaign has been widened to include people above 60, and those who are 45 or more and suffering from certain comorbid diseases.

Several prominent political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, have already taken the vaccines.

President Kovind had earlier said it was a matter of immense pride that India is conducting the world's largest vaccination programme. "Both the vaccines rolled out under this programme are produced indigenously," he had said. Notably, the vaccination does not proclaim to be a cure but a shot as a immunity booster.

It is important to recall that scattered reports have also appeared about person testing positive for covid 19 after getting vaccines two times also. But the experts are alarmed on this. They ask the vaccine aspirators to take vaccine twice as a singular dose isn’t enough, at the same time, cautioning it is not a fool-proof safety against the virus. They say vaccines’ impact is never instant. It takes time. It also come with few side effects such as nausea, headache, stomach ache etc. Moreover, experts caution that that the vaccine cut down illness and severity rates, but, not the transmission. You may not get covid-19 but may still infect others.

It is also important to note that even if there is a dead virus in the body, the reports will show positive. Such cases had caused lot of alarm in the country, especially among those who follow the herded news, blindly. So, while the studies on the clinical level are still being evaluated, it has been reported that only a couple of vaccines have the power to act on the transmission rates, such as the Oxford-Astrazeneca jab.

The researchers therefore, advise us to wait to understand the virus that has caused more panic deaths than natural deaths across the globe. Important to note is that, India gets more deaths due to flu anyway than cancer and other diseases whose treatment is costly.

The socio-medical researchers also warn that the virus’ impact is blown out of proportion. It is directly proportional to immunity and lower stress levels.
