The cricketer, who is named after actor Shahrukh Khan has a base price of ₹20 lakh. Incidentally, actor Shah Rukh Khan co-owns the rival Kolkata Knight Riders team. That makes it two Shah Rukhs and one Preity as the centre of attraction today. The news made the twitter rush abuzz with “finally Veer met Zara today”, referring to film Veer Zara in which the two lovers Veer and Zara played by Khan and Zinta, never met being India and Pakistan, respectively.
IPL's official page shared the news of Khan's induction in the Punjab's team with actor Preity Zinta's thrilling reaction. The caption read, "When you get a certain "Shahrukh Khan" in your side@PunjabKingsIPL" The news was shared on Twitter by the official handle of the IPL. “Shahrukh Khan, with a base price of 20 Lac, is attracting interest at the #IPLAuction. @Vivo_India. He goes to @PunjabKingsIPL for 5.25Cr INR @Vivo_India #IPLAuction - WOW,” the tweets read.
Co-incidentally, actor Shahrukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was also present at the auction, representing his father's team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
