While Rs 621.55 crore was proposed in last year's budget 2022-23 for organizing Mahakumbh, in relation to this, the government has made a provision of Rs 2500 crore in the budget. Traditionally, the meeting of rivers is considered very sacred and the meeting of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati takes place in Prayagraj.

Kumbh was held every 12th year and Ardhakumbh every 6th year at the confluence of Prayagraj. The Yogi government has named 'Ardh Kumbh' as ​​'Kumbh' and 'Kumbh' as ​​'Mahakumbh'.
