The Uttar Pradesh government has made a provision of Rs 2500 crore in the budget for the financial year 2023-24 for the Mahakumbh to be held in Prayagraj in the year 2025. In order to make the Maha Kumbh Mela to be held in Prayagraj in 2025 the grandest ever, the state government led by Yogi Adityanath has proposed a huge amount in this budget.
While Rs 621.55 crore was proposed in last year's budget 2022-23 for organizing Mahakumbh, in relation to this, the government has made a provision of Rs 2500 crore in the budget. It is notable that Prayagraj has an important place among Hindus as a pilgrimage. Traditionally, the meeting of rivers is considered very sacred and the meeting of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati takes place in Prayagraj.
Kumbh was held every 12th year and Ardhakumbh every 6th year at the confluence of Prayagraj. The Yogi government has named 'Ardh Kumbh' as 'Kumbh' and 'Kumbh' as 'Mahakumbh'.
