Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been addressing pre-budget webinars for the past few days. Today also PM addressed the Budget Webinar on 'Infrastructure and Investment'. In his address, the PM said that this year's budget is going to give new growth energy to the infrastructure sector. Modi said that infrastructure development has always been an important pillar in the country's development process.

The PM said that for the first decades in the country, there was a thinking that poverty was an emotion and because of this thinking, governments did not invest in the country's infrastructure. The PM said that our government has taken the country out of this thinking and has made record investments on modern infrastructure. In his address, the PM said that today the average annual construction of National Highways has doubled as compared to 2014. The PM said that before 2014, every year 600 route km of rail line was electrified and today this figure has come down to 4000 route km. The number of airports has also increased from 74 to around 150 as compared to 2014.
