Political News : Former MP Ripun Bora joins TMC

Former Assam Congress President Ripun Bora on Sunday joined the All India Trinamool Congress. TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee inducted the former Rajya Sabha MP into the party. Bora on Sunday tendered his resignation from the party citing infighting in the state Congress.

Former Rajya Sabha member Ripun Bora has also been the President of Congress in Assam. Soon after Ripun Bora resigned from the Congress, TMC tweeted pictures of him and Abhishek Banerjee from its Twitter handle. Let us tell you that TMC is already engaged in the preparations for 2024 Lok Sabha elections. To beat the BJP, Mamta's party is trying to increase its scope in many states.

Assam's well-known leader and current Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev had also left the Congress and joined TMC last year. Now after the resignation of the big leader of Assam and former minister Ripun Bora, the Congress seems to be weakening further in the state. Ripun resigned from the post of local unit chief, taking moral responsibility after the defeat in the state elections.
