Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has condoned the demise of veteran singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri. PM Modi said that his music was all -ncompassing and expressed diverse emotions beautifully.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “Shri Bappi Lahiri Ji’s music was all encompassing, beautifully expressing diverse emotions. People across generations could relate to his works.”
He added, “His lively nature will be missed by everyone. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti."
Bappi Lahiri, who enthralled generations with his music and composition, passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 69.
His death has shocked the music world and his fans who belonged to all walks of life expressed their deep grief.
Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar said, “I really enjoyed Bappi Da's music, especially “yaad aa raha hai” - heard it several times in the dressing room. The range of his talent was truly amazing.”
Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh wrote on his Twitter, “Sad news of the passing away of legendary musician Bappi Lahiri ji he will be fondly remembered for his mesmerising musical compositions which are loved by people of all ages. My condolences to the family. RIP #BappiDa.”
The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee tweeted, “Shocked to hear about the untimely demise of legendary singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri. A boy from our North Bengal, he rose to all-India fame and success by the dint of his sheer talent and hard work, and made us proud by his musical contributions.”
“We had conferred on him our highest state civilian award “Bangabibhushan" and will continue to remember the genius. My sincere condolences,” She added.
