PM Narendra Modi's global approval rating has dropped to 66%, yet he still outperforms Joe Biden and Angela Merkel.
In August 2019, when the Centre repealed Article 370, PM Modi had an approval rating of 82% and a disapproval rating of 11%.

According to a poll, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's global approval rating has dropped to 66%, down from 75% a year ago. PM Modi has a 28 percent disapproval rating, up from 20 percent a year ago. On May 3, 2020, months after the COVID-19 pandemic began, the prime minister's approval rating was as high as 84 percent.
However, according to the 'Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker' study performed by American data intelligence firm 'Morning Consult,' PM Modi continues to lead world leaders from 13 countries, including the US, Russia, France, and Germany.
The poll only included 2,126 individuals in India, a country with 1.3 billion people. According to the company, the daily global survey data is based on a seven-day moving average of all adults in a specific country, with a +/- 1-3 percent margin of error. Because all survey interviews were done online, India's responding population was limited to literate people and had access to digital media.
The second position was bagged by Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi (65 percent), followed by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (63 percent), Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison (54 percent), German Chancellor Angela Merkel (53 percent), US President Joe Biden (53 percent), Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (48%), UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson (44 percent).
In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, governments and politicians all over the world have been chastised. Suga (60 percent) of Japan and Sánchez (59 percent) of Spain now have the highest disapproval scores among the international leaders polled.
Draghi's approval rating, on the other hand, has risen in recent months, according to data. Macron's popularity has plunged, on the contrary.
The approval ratings of Bolsonaro, Merkel, and Moon had changed throughout the last 18 months — even before the epidemic began in early 2020. López Obrador (27 percent), who became president of Mexico in December 2018, has a lower disapproval rating than Prime Minister Modi.
