The project is PM Modi’s vision to provide ease and comfort to devotees while performing the age-old custom of taking a dip in the Ganga river, collecting Gangajal and offering it at the temple.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first phase of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham that has been constructed at a cost of around Rs 339 crores. He will arrive at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple at 1 PM on December 13 and offer prayers before the inauguration ceremony begins.
The project is PM Modi’s vision to provide ease and comfort to devotees while performing the age-old custom of taking a dip in the Ganga river, collecting Gangajal and offering it at the temple.
Earlier, they had to face a plethora of problems in carrying out the tradition due to congested streets and surroundings with poor upkeep of public facilities.
Under the said project, now an easily accessible pathway to connect Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple to the banks of the River Ganga is underway so that the visitors and devotees can perform the rituals with ease and comfort. Modern facilities are being created for the disabled and old age people with the provision of ramps, escalators etc.
PM Modi had laid the foundation stone of the project on 8th March 2019. In the first phase of the project, a total of 23 buildings will be inaugurated which will provide a variety of facilities to the pilgrims visiting Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, including Yatri Suvidha Kendras, Tourist Facilitation Centre, Vedic Kendra, Mumukshu Bhavan, Bhogshala, City Museum, Viewing Gallery, Food Court, among others.
To realise PM Modi’s vision, more than 300 properties around Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple were purchased or acquired and around 1400 shopkeepers, tenants and homeowners were rehabilitated with mutual negotiations.
