PM Modi spoke to President of Ukraine, call for an immediate cessation of violence

As Ukraine is facing the Russian onslaught after the latter announced military action against the former, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine spoke to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for the first time after the war started.
While Zelenskyy updated PM Modi about the current situation in his country, PM Modi expressed extreme regret for the loss of life and property due to the war between the two countries.
“Zelenskyy briefed the Prime Minister in detail about the ongoing conflict situation in Ukraine. Prime Minister expressed his deep anguish about the loss of life and property due to the ongoing conflict. He reiterated his call for an immediate cessation of violence and a return to dialogue, and expressed India’s willingness to contribute in any way towards peace efforts,” a press statement released by the Prime Minister's Office said.
Thousands of Indians are stuck in Ukraine as they couldn’t evacuate before the war started and now they are pleading for help. The government is trying its level best to take them to a safer location in the neighbouring countries so that they can be flown back to India.
“Prime Minister also conveyed India’s deep concern for the safety and security of Indian citizens, including students, present in Ukraine,” the PMO said.
It further informed that PM Modi also sought facilitation by Ukrainian authorities to expeditiously and safely evacuate Indian citizens.
