"Delighted to speak with my dear friend Donald Trump. Congratulated him on his historic second term. We are committed to a mutually beneficial and trusted partnership. We will work together for the welfare of our people and towards global peace, prosperity, and security," PM Modi wrote on X.

Donald Trump took the oath of office on January 20, over three months after he emerged victoriously against his Democratic rival Kamala Harris.
The event in Washington was graced by prominent international personalities including Indian industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani. Some of the attendees included high-profile Indian-Americans like Sundar Pichai, Google's chief executive.
The event saw S. Jaishankar representing India.
While attending the Trump inauguration, Jaishankar praised the strengthened and flourishing bilateral relationship between India and the United States, noting that the new Trump administration has chosen to accord priority to the growing partnership , looking at complementing and consolidating the strong foundation laid by its predecessor administrations.
Speaking to the media after the event, Jaishankar stated that the Trump administration is very keen on Indian participation in the Presidential inauguration and India's greater aspirations thereon.

"If I were to share my overall impressions, I would say one, it was very keen. It was very clear that the Trump administration was keen to have India present at the inaugural itself. They're clearly prioritising the bilateral relationship," Jaishankar said.
Meanwhile, two Indian sources familiar with the talks told Reuters that Indian and U.S. diplomats were trying to arrange a meeting in February between PM Modi and Trump in Washington.
In February 2020, Trump visited India during his previous tenure. There, he received a grand welcome from 100,000 Indians at the cricket stadium at Ahmedabad. In 2019.
Trump along with Modi held a "Howdy Modi" rally in Houston, which attracted about 50,000 people, mostly Indian Americans.
