PM Modi lays foundation stone for 31,000 crore development works including Bangalore-Chennai Expressway
PM Modi said, '5 railway stations are being redeveloped. This modernization and development is being done keeping in mind the needs of the future. At the same time it will get absorbed with the local art and culture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Chennai on Thursday as per his predetermined schedule. Here he laid the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 31,000 crore, including the Bangalore-Chennai Expressway. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin was also present during the program.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said, “It is always wonderful to come to Tamil Nadu. The people, culture and language of this state are unmatched. Tamil language is eternal and Tamil culture is global. From Chennai to Canada, from Madurai to Malaysia, from Namakkal to New York, from Salem to South Africa the occasions of Pongal and Puthandu are marked with great enthusiasm. We are gathered here to celebrate yet another glorious milestone in the development journey of Tamil Nadu.
The PM said, 'Till a few years ago, infrastructure meant roads, electricity and water. Today we are working for the expansion of the country's gas pipeline. It is our vision to take high speed internet to every village. The Government of India is fully committed to further popularize the Tamil language and culture. In January this year, the new campus of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil in Chennai was inaugurated. The new campus is fully funded by the Government of India.
