PM expresses grief over demise of noted Kathakali dancer Milena Salvini.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the demise of noted Kathakali dancer Ms. Milena Salvini. Prime Minister Modi expressing grief said that her passion for Indian culture and Kathakali dance will always be remembered.

PM Modi took to his Twitter hand to express his thoughts as he wrote, ”Ms. Milena Salvini will be remembered for her passion towards Indian culture.”

PM Modi also said that Milena Salvini contributed by making numerous efforts to further popularise Kathakali across France.

“She made numerous efforts to further popularise Kathakali across France. I am anguished by her passing away. My thoughts are with her family and well-wishers. May her soul rest in peace," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

Milena Salvini played a significant role in promoting and popularising Indian classical dance and culture in France.

Her ‘Centre Mandapa’ is a school that teaches various Indian dance forms in Paris. She was highly regarded both in France and India for her role in promoting performing arts.

Her contribution in performing arts won her Padma Shri by the Government of India in the year 2019.

The Indian Embassy in France said in a tweet, "One of the finest exponents of Kathakali, Padmashri Ms. Milena Salvini passed away yesterday; As a founder director of "Centre Mandapa" in Paris, she promoted & taught Indian dance & music for more than four decades in France. Deepest condolences."
