The plane fell onto the ground in the vicinity of the Roosevelt Mall in Philadelphia.
The medical transport jet was carrying a child patient and five others. Jet Rescue Air Ambulance said the patient and another passenger were on board along with four crew members.
The Learjet 55 was transporting a young female patient from Philadelphia, where she had been treated for a medical emergency, to her home in Mexico, said Shai Gold, a spokesperson for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, which owns the plane. She was accompanied by an escort, and there were four crew members on board, he said. The patient had been treated at Shriners Children's Hospital in Philadelphia and was traveling with her mother, the hospital's spokesperson, Mel Bower, said in a statement.

Videos on social media showed many cars and some houses on fire. One of the videos also showed a person engulfed in flames, attempting to walk away from the site of the plane crash.
It is unclear whether there are any survivors among those who were onboard the plane.
A spokesperson for Temple University Hospital-Jeanes in Philadelphia said they had treated six people who were injured on the ground during the crash, according to US media reports.
Three of those people have been treated and released, while details are not yet known about the condition of the other three, the reports said.
Mayor Cherelle Parker, speaking at a news conference, said that information on fatalities was not immediately available.
However, she confirmed that several homes and vehicles had sustained significant damage. "This is still an active scene under investigation," she said.
