Petrol became cheaper in Delhi, Kejriwal government cut VAT by 8 Rs per liter

The Kejriwal government of Delhi has made petrol prices cheap, giving relief to the public. The government has reduced the VAT on petrol in the cabinet meeting today. Now the price of petrol in Delhi has been cut by Rs.8 per liter.

Official sources said that the Delhi Cabinet has decided to reduce VAT on petrol from 30 percent to 19.4 percent. This will reduce the price of petrol in Delhi by Rs 8 per liter. The new rates will be applicable from midnight tonight.

After this reduction, petrol in Delhi can be got at the rate of around Rs 96 per liter. Presently people are paying Rs 103.97 per liter of petrol. On the other hand, if we talk about diesel, it is being available in the capital at the rate of Rs 86.67 per liter. Even before the cabinet meeting, it was being speculated that the government might reduce the VAT on petrol.

Petrol will be sold in Delhi within Rs 100 After the reduction of VAT on petrol by the Kejriwal government, Delhi has become the only city where petrol will be sold within Rs 100. Talking about Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, the price of petrol here is above Rs 100.

Petrol-diesel dealers wrote a letter to Kejriwal Last month, the Delhi Petrol-Diesel Dealers Association wrote a letter to CM Arvind Kejriwal demanding reduction in VAT. In the letter, he had said that due to this the dealers of Delhi are suffering huge losses. After this, CM Kejriwal had indicated to reduce VAT.

Modi government gave a gift on Diwali Petrol and diesel prices were on fire since the beginning of the year. Oil prices were skyrocketing for several days. After this, on the occasion of Diwali, the Modi government at the Center reduced the excise duty by five and ten rupees while giving gifts to the people. This caused oil prices to drop. After the central government, the NDA ruled states had reduced the VAT on petrol and diesel in their respective states. A few days later, giving relief to the people, the Congress governments of Punjab, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh also did the same.
