Pawan Verma quits TMC: Big blow to Mamta, Vice President Pavan Verma resigns from TMC
He left the party in protest against JD(U)'s decision to support the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Verma has authored several books besides serving as India's ambassador to several countries and spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs.

West Bengal's ruling Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress suffered another setback on Friday. Party's national general secretary Pawan K Verma resigned from the post today.
In his resignation letter to TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, Verma urged her to accept it. However, he did not specify the reason for his resignation. He informed about the resignation in a tweet. Verma wrote in a letter to Mamta Banerjee, 'Accept my resignation. I want to thank you for your kindness and courtesy. I look forward to getting in touch with you. Best wishes to all.'
Pavan Varma had joined Trinamool Congress only last year. He is an officer of the Indian Foreign Service. He was earlier advisor to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He was a Rajya Sabha member, National General Secretary of JDU and National Spokesperson from June 2014 to July 2016.
