Panic in Odisha due to cyclone Asani, 17 teams of NDRF and 20 teams of ODRF ready to deal with the storm
Collectors of 18 districts of Odisha's Malkangiri to Mayurbhanj have been asked to remain alert. Due to the possible cyclone in the Bay of Bengal, 17 NDRF, 20 ODRAF and 175 teams of fire service department are ready to deal with the situation if required.

Odisha's Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena said that as per information received from IMD, a cyclonic circulation has developed around South Andaman Sea and its adjoining areas. It is likely to turn into a low pressure area. Due to the effect of low pressure, it is raining in many districts of the state. Once it develops, its intensity will be easy to estimate.

Emergency offices and control rooms in 18 vulnerable districts of the state have been ordered to remain open 24 hours. Special emphasis is being laid on relocating people from places of danger. Especially people living in kutcha houses have been asked to reach safer places. At the same time, the Special Relief Commissioner has asked the local BDO and Tehsildar to inspect the flood shelter site as well as identify a safe place or pucca house and make it a shelter.
