On Sunday, Praveen and six family members were found dead in the car parked outside a house in Haryana's Panchkula. Local residents found all family members unconscious in the car; however, they managed to get one person out, who was still breathing. That man told them before dying that his family was "drowning in debt." "I will die in five minutes as I have also consumed poison," he told Puneet Rana, a local resident.
Praveen was from Barwala in Hisar and moved to Panchkula about 12 years ago. He owned a scrap factory in Himachal Pradesh, which was later seized by the bank for not repaying the loans, Praveen's cousin Sandeep Agarwal said.
They had to suddenly leave Hisar, even to escape the debts.

"For five years, he did not stay in touch with anyone," Sandeep told India Today TV. Sandeep said they had left Hisar because the threats were getting worse as well.
Currently, they were living near a Saketri village in Panchkula and Praveen was earning as a taxi driver. "The bank had already seized Praveen's two flats, his factory and his vehicles," Sandeep told India Today TV.
Sandeep said he had talked to Praveen five days before and that his cousin had asked him to do the last rites in the suicide note he left behind. "Police have said that Praveen left behind a suicide note, in which he requested that I perform his last rites," he told India Today TV.
