A special court in Pakistan on Saturday reserved judgment on the bail pleas of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son and Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz in a money laundering case. According to the report of news agency ANI, the father and son had requested for extension in the bail period in their petition. The judge of the special court reserved the judgment after the completion of the arguments.
However, before the special court's decision, many such developments took place in this case which are interesting. The prosecutor fainted during the hearing in the money laundering case against Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Maqsood was also named in the money laundering case against Shahbaz Sharif and his family. Former accountability consultant Shahzad Akbar, quoting the ARY News report, had claimed that lakhs of rupees were found in Maqsood's bank accounts. Not only this, on May 10, Dr. Rizwan, the former director of the Central Investigation Agency, died of a heart attack. He was investigating the money laundering case against Shahbaz Sharif.
Earlier on June 5, the court had extended the interim bail of Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz till June 11. During the hearing, the Central Investigation Agency (FIA) had requested the court to allow Sharif's arrest. In December 2021, the FIA had produced challans against Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbad for their alleged involvement in money laundering of Rs 16 billion in the sugar scam case.
