The defence ministry said the Pakistani military attempted last night to target Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.

Operation Sindoor Live: India on Thursday claimed that it beat back attempts by the Pakistan military to strike 15 locations in Northern and Western India with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles without warning and destroyed a Pakistani air defence system in Lahore as tensions between the two nations persisted with fears of a greater conflict.
The defence ministry said the Pakistani military attempted last night to target Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.

"These attempts were neutralised by the Integrated Counter Unmanned Aircraft System (Grid and Air Defence systems)," the Indian defence ministry said in a statement.
The Pakistani attempts to attack Northern and Western India was a response to missile attacks carried out early Wednesday on nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan under Operation Sindoor by Indian armed forces.
The defence ministry added that India labelled their anti-terrorism responses "focused, measured and non-escalatory" and reiterated that Pakistani military establishments were not targeted.
The ministry stated that Pakistan had increased the level of unprovoked firing across the Line of Control with mortars and heavy calibre artillery fires along the border in the Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Here too India was forced to respond to stop mortar and artillery fires from Pakistan", the ministry stated.
In a show of retaliatory force to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Indian armed forces carried out the missile attacks early Wednesday on terrorist target including in Bahawalpur, a stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror group.
“Pakistan has increased the intensity of its unprovoked firing across the Line of Control using Mortars and heavy calibre Artillery in areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. 16 innocent lives have been lost, including three women and five children, due to Pakistani firing. India was compelled to respond to bring Mortar and Artillery fire from Pakistan to a halt. Indian Armed Forces reiterate their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is respected by the Pakistani military,” Wing Commander Vyomika Singh says in the special MEA briefing.
Vikram Misri, the Foreign Secretary, said Wednesday that the proportional strikes were a decision made by India to bring justice to the perpetrators and planners of the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, 2023, as there was no "demonstrable step" to take action against terrorist infrastructure on territories controlled by Pakistan.
