Operation Ankush: North-East District Delhi Police made three arrests in 24 hours

The special operation “Ankush” launched by the North-East District is continued with the objective to curb Street and Organized Crime, to deter the criminals/anti-social elements and more importantly to enhance a sense of safety among citizens.
“On January 14, 2022, an FIR regarding a robbery of a Bajaj Pulsar Motorcycle was reported in Nand Nagri police station on a complaint lodged by Prakash. He stated that while he was passing through the area someone hit him on the head with a bottle and robbed him of his motorcycle Bajaj pulsar no DL-5 SBK-9760,” Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP, North-East District, New Delhi.
During the robbery, a scuffle took place due to which, the wallet of the robber having his Aadhar Card came in his hand. He handed it over to the police team.
During the course of the investigation, the address mentioned in the Aadhar card was found to be a rented accommodation vacated by the robber long ago.
A police team comprising Sub Inspector Bintu, Head Constable Devender and Constable Lalit scanned and analyzed the CCTV footage of all possible escape routes of the robber.
After diligent effort, the police team zeroed in on a clear image of the robber and circulated it within social media groups for identification. On January, 21, on the basis of secret information, a person namely Ram was apprehended from District Park, Nand Nagri.
Sain said, “During interrogation, he confessed to his crime and disclosed his involvement in other cases also. Sincere efforts are being made to recover the robbed motorcycle.”
In another case, while patrolling at main 66 Futa Road, Jafrabad, the police team comprising Head Constable Pardeep and Constable Harish heard someone shouting Chor-Chor.
According to Sain, “Police team immediately responded to the situation and saw a person was shouting while chasing another person and pointing a finger towards him. The police team chased and apprehended him within a short span, meanwhile the person who was shouting also reached the spot and informed that his name is Imtiyaz, and he is an auto driver. While he was attending a call on his mobile phone, this person reached from behind snatched my mobile phone and started running.”
During a cursory search, the snatched mobile phone of the complainant Imtiyaz was recovered from his possession. His identity was established as Ankit Rathore.
The third case was from Sonia Vihar police station where the police team apprehended a 16-year-old mobile snatcher.
On January 14, a complaint of snatching of mobile phone in Sonia Vihar was received from a person called Aman. Accordingly, an FIR was lodged and an investigation was taken up. During the course of the investigation CCTV footage of the nearby vicinity was scanned and analyzed thoroughly.
“On January 21, at around 05:30 PM, acting on a secret information, a police team of Sonia Vihar comprising Sub Inspector Jitender and Head Constable Manoj apprehended one juvenile of 16 years of age from his residence and examined him,” Sain said.
During the examination, he confessed to his crime and disclosed his involvement in other cases also. Further investigation of the case is in progress.
