On the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr, both Indian and Pakistani Armies exchange sweets

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Indian and Pakistani armies exchanged sweets at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, defence officials said.

“On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the tradition of exchanging sweets between India and Pakistan on major festivals such as Eid, Holi, Diwali, and respective National days was revived, and meetings were held at the Tithwal crossing on the Kishanganga River in Tangdhar, Kupwara, and Kaman Aman Setu in Uri to exchange sweets and pleasantries,” a spokesperson in Srinagar said.

Meanwhile, an official in Jammu said, "On the occasion of Eid today, the Indian and Pakistani armies exchanged sweets at Chakan Da Bagh crossing point Mendhar-Hotspring crossing along the LoC in Poonch."

According to them, both armies exchanged sweets and congratulations in a spirit of goodwill and celebration in the midst of the newly achieved peace along the LoC as a consequence of the revived ceasefire, which has brought warmth between the two neighbours.

Both armies praised the gesture, which they said was intended to foster goodwill and mutual confidence.

“The exchange of unintentionally crossed over youths at the zero lines in Tithwal on three occasions in the last two months bode well for the future,” the spokesperson said.

According to them, both sides adhered to all COVID protocols during the exchange of sweets and pleasantries.
