Old Pension Scheme: Good news for central employees, big update regarding old pension scheme

There is a great news for the Central Government employees. The government has given a chance to some employees to choose the old pension scheme. Ministry of Personnel has issued an order regarding this. In an order issued on Friday, the government told that after all, which selected employees are being given the opportunity to opt for the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). So let's know about it. These employees will get the benefit of the old pension scheme. As per the order of the Government, the employees joining the services of the Central Government under posts advertised or notified prior to December 22, 2003, the date of notification of the National Pension System (NPS) Central Civil Services Pension) Rules, 1972 (now 2021) are eligible to join the old pension scheme.

Government employees related to this can use this option till August 31, 2023. Along with this, it was also told by the government that if the eligible employees do not opt ​​for the old pension scheme by August 31, 2023, then they will be given pension cover under the National Pension System (NPS). On the other hand, if an employee once chooses either the old pension or the new pension, then it will be considered as the last option. That is, it cannot be changed.

The National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) has welcomed this decision of the government. It is an organization of more than fourteen lakh central and state government employees. Manjit Singh Patel, head of the Delhi unit of NMOPS, said, 'This is good news for the eligible central government employees. We once again request the Central Government to amend the existing New Pension Scheme so that all Central Government employees can get the benefit of the old pension scheme.
