“As a follow-up to the earlier observation of apparent #DifferentialPricing based on the different models of mobiles (#iPhones/ #Android) being used, Department of Consumer Affairs through the CCPA, has issued notices to major cab aggregators #Ola and #Uber, seeking their responses,” he wrote.

Experts say these inconsistencies emanated from the way ride-hailing apps access hardware data after consent during installation of the said app by the user.
The minister said last month that there would be no room for consumer exploitation any longer, asking the CCPA to conduct its own enquiry into the allegations, according to a news agency PTI reports.
He also said that, prima facie, it appears to be an unfair trade practice and also a convenient disregard for consumers right to transparency.
