Kazakhstan's KMG oil company will supply oil to Germany's Schweitz refinery. This oil will reach Germany via Russia's Druzhba pipeline. The deal will help Germany address its immediate challenges regarding energy resources.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, European countries are looking for alternatives to import oil from different countries instead of depending on any one country for oil. In this series, Germany and Kazakhstan have jointly decided that Kazakhstan will supply one lakh tonnes of oil to Germany in March. Kazakhstan's KMG oil company will supply oil to Germany's Schweitz refinery. This oil will reach Germany via Russia's Druzhba pipeline. The deal will help Germany address its immediate challenges regarding energy resources.
This oil will be refined at Schweitz Refinery. It is run by Rosneft Deshland Company. Russian company Rosneft has 54.17% stake in this company. Germany wants to sell part of this company to Russian Rosneft. For this, Germany is planning to change the Energy Security Act, so that the sale of Russia's stake can be accelerated. Germany had stopped Russian oil imports from the Druzhba pipeline since January. Since then the country has been making strenuous efforts to ensure oil supplies through alternative routes to the Schweitz refinery.
