North East Team of Nand Nagri Police arrests Robbers who impersonated themselves as Police, Recovers Motorcycle, Scooty and robbed Phones

New Delhi: In a major development, the North East Team of Nand Nagri Police arrested two robbers, who impersonated themselves as Policemen from Special Staff. Both the accused arrested namely Anshul (21) and Shekhar (22) are fitness freaks and were members of an Akhara. While Anshul, who is fond of body-building is merely 12th pass, Shekhar is pursuing his graduation from Uttar Pradesh. The Police have recovered a yellow motorcycle, one scooty with Police Stickers on Front and Back, four robbed mobile phones, 2 valets, earphones, and fake ID proofs with different names.

Devesh Kumar Mahla, Additional Dy. Commissioner of Police-I, North-East District said that “On 03.04.22 a police team comprising SI Bintu, SI Neeraj, Const. Sunny, Const. Amit and Const. Mukesh under the supervision of SHO/Nand Nagri while patrolling in the area received secret information regarding ‘02 robbers beating and robbing a passerby near Gagan Cinema. The Police reached the spot immediately and spoke to the injured person who was robbed by two men who impersonated themselves as Policemen from Special Staff.”

On further investigation, the Police team immediately chased and caught hold of the running person; however, another on the scooty, managed to escape. The man was searched diligently by the Police, and one mobile phone, a valet containing an Aadhar Card, RC & DL in the name of Nitin Manocha, one earphone, Aadhar card of Pankaj Kumar were recovered from his possession.

Later on, his identity was established as Anshul, 21, who resided in Amar Colony, New Delhi. Accordingly, on the statement of the complainant, a case vides FIR No. 343/22, on the 3rd of April u/s 392/394/411 IPC, PS Nand Nagri, Delhi was registered. Anshul was apprehended and the investigation was taken up.

During the course of the investigation, Anshul confessed to his crime and revealed his associate named Shekhar. In this instance, Shekhar was apprehended from Dharamkanta near Shiv Vihar Metro Station. On sustained interrogation, both sustained and confessed to their crimes. The Police said that further interrogation is under process.
