North East Team Of Jyoti Nagar Police Arrests Two Dreaded Criminals After A Major Fire Exchange

Proceeding on their consistent spree of containing crimes, the North East Team of Jyoti Nagar Police in a major development arrested two dreaded criminals after an exchange of fire in the wee hours.

North East Team Of Jyoti Nagar Police Arrests Two Dreaded Criminals After A Major Fire Exchange

New Delhi: Proceeding on their consistent spree of containing crimes, the North East Team of Jyoti Nagar Police in a major development arrested two dreaded criminals after an exchange of fire in the wee hours. As per the Police officials, two rounds were fired initially by the criminals, following which, the Police fired two shots in retaliation. The arrested accused had been running and was wanted in over two cases of robbery. He also had multiple criminal involvements. The accused have been identified as Shakti (36) and Sonu (24).

The Police recovered a sophisticated semi-automatic pistol, a country-made pistol both loaded with cartridges, along with some empty cartridges and a stolen motorcycle plate and helmet.

According to Sanjay Kumar Sain, “Dy. Commissioner Of Police, North East District, Delhi, “ On the 21st of October, two back-to-back armed robberies in a small stretch and within a short span of time in wee hours were reported from Ashok Nagar area of PS Jyoti Nagar. Modus operandi in both incidents remained similar, i.e., two persons came on a motorcycle, targeted a specific category of persons, robbed them of cash at gunpoint, and fled. Assessing the severity of incidents during the festive season, the Operations wing/NED was roped in along with the PS team, to solve these cases on first priority.”

He further added, “Police teams started working on it and scanned & analyzed multiple CCTV footage of the vicinity. Technical surveillance was mounted and local sources were also deployed. The victims were shown the photographs of suspected BCs of PS Jyoti Nagar and adjoining Police Stations, having resemblances with the details provided by the victims and information extracted through sources.”

Accordingly, to contain the accused shortly, a Special Staff team comprising SI Akhil, ASI Sanjeev, HC Sarvan, HC Vishant, HC Nitin, HC Vinay, Const. Deepak, Const. Jagdish and Const. Deepak under the supervision of Inspr. Harish IC/Spl.Staff/NED laid a trap in the area.

At about 2.00 AM when the police team was present on the service road, towards Ambedkar College (Wazirabad road) near Loni Gol Chakkar they noticed two suspected persons plying on a hero splendor motorcycle without registration plates. Seeing the police presence, they hurriedly made a sharp U-turn in a bid to escape, resulting in their motorcycle skidding and they fell on the road. As the Police blocked their path with Govt. Gypsy, the rider whipped out a pistol and indiscriminately fired 02 shots at the police team resultantly one of the bullets hit at the Govt. Gypsy. The Police retaliated, and one of the bullets hit in the leg of one criminal, however, the other dodged the bullet and started running on the other side but he was chased and overpowered with the help of other staff.

Later, the identity of the injured person was established as Shakti (36) and Sachin (24) . Accordingly, a case under the Arms Act, PS Jyoti Nagar, Delhi was registered and an investigation was taken up. Both the accused were found to have previous involvements.

On sustained interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in both the robberies and other criminal cases. They further disclosed that they are well acquainted with the topography of the area and used to target the vegetable vendors and milk suppliers and other similar small vendors who are out on the road in the wee hours in connection with their business and carry cash. After committing robberies, they fled through the narrow lanes. As per the Police, further investigation is under process.
