North East Team of Bhajanpura Police apprehends snatchers within 24 hours, recovers Mobile Phones, and Stolen Scooty among others

New Delhi: In what could be heralded as a major victory for the Police, the Bhajanpura Police arrested two snatchers. From the first snatcher, who’s identified as Chintu, the Police recovered a Button Actuated Knife, two Master Keys, 5 Stolen Motorcycles, and 1 Scooty, while from the other accused, identified as Amit and Deepak, the Police were able to recover a mobile phone, the accused snatched from the lady.

As per Devesh Kumar Mahla, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police-I, North East District, “On the 6tf of March, PS Bhajanpura received a tip and basis that, a police team comprising HC Anil, HC Krishan, HC Manish, HC Ramvir and Const. Arun under the supervision of SHO/Bhajanpura laid a trap near Lal Mandir, Service road, Bhajanpura. At about 11:15 PM a person riding a motorcycle in a zigzag manner was noticed arriving from 5th pusta to the Khajuri side. On the instance of the informer, he was signaled to stop for a check. Seeing the police team he tried a sharp U-turn in order to escape but his motorcycle skidded and he fell on the road. He was immediately caught by the alert police team. On asking the reason for the U-turn he tried to bluff the police team, further a button-actuated knife and two master keys were recovered from his possession. On asking for the documents related to ownership of the motorcycle he couldn’t provide any. Accordingly, a case vides FIR No. 311/22 dated 07/04/22 u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act and 102 Cr.PC, PS Bhajanpura, Delhi was registered and an investigation was taken up.”

Further investigation revealed the identity of the accused as Chintu (22), who confessed his involvement in various Snatching and Motor Vehicles Theft cases.

In another trap laid, the Bhajanpura Police arrested a snatcher who was running after snatching a mobile phone from a woman. Mr. Mahla mentioned that “A woman was seen following a person running in the direction of Anand Sagar restaurant. The police team immediately assessed the situation and chased the snatcher. The snatcher was nabbed by ASI Banvir within a short span. On Search, one mobile phone was recovered from his possession, which was later found to be of the same woman. Accordingly, on her complaint a case vide FIR No. 314/22 dated 07.04.22 u/s 356/379/411/34 IPC, PS Bhajanpura, Delhi was registered and an investigation was taken up.

The accused was later identified as Amit and confessed that he worked with an associate named Deepak, who was then apprehended by the Police.
