North-East District Delhi Police arrested an auto lifter/snatcher, a buyer of stolen items

Police stations in the North-East district of Delhi are working relentlessly to maintain a law and order in their respective areas. To strengthen the security arrangements on Republic Day and to curb the street crime under the ongoing “Operation-Ankush”, random anti snatching pickets are being deployed on the bordering roads of North East District.

On January 24, 2022, at around 11:30 PM, while team Anti Auto Theft Squad of North-East Delhi was checking at the picket near Brijpuri Puliya, the police team signalled a person on Black Hero Passion Pro motorcycle No. DL-5SBJ-5397 to stop for check.

However, instead of stopping, he accelerated and tried to jump the picket in a bid to escape but was chased and overpowered by the alert staff after a minute scuffle.

“His identity was disclosed as 27-year-old Manoj, resident of Zero Pusta, Soniya Vihar, Delhi. On checking the motorcycle he was riding was also found to be stolen. Accordingly, he was arrested and an investigation was taken up. During the course of the investigation it surfaced that he is a desperate Auto lifter/Snatcher involved in multiple cases of auto lifting/snatching,” Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP, North-East Delhi, said.

On his information, the receiver of the stolen items namely Shafiq, resident of Loni, Ghaziabad, UP was apprehended and one stolen motorcycle Hero Passion No. Dl-05SBH-4431 and 07 stolen mobile phones were recovered from his possession.

Manoj was found to be involved in 46 cases of auto lifting and snatching. He is a habitual offender who used to mainly involve in snatching. To save himself from the stringent action from the police he frequently keeps changing his accommodations after short intervals.
