No direction to CBDT to issue any notice to Sharad Pawar: Election Commission
“In some sections of Media it has been reported that Income Tax notice has been issued to Shri Sharad Pawar, Member of Parliament on the directions of Election Commission of India,” a press release from the ECI said.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has clarified that it didn’t issue any instruction to the Center Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to issue any notice to the veteran Maharashtra leader Sharad Pawar.
“In some sections of Media it has been reported that Income Tax notice has been issued to Shri Sharad Pawar, Member of Parliament on the directions of Election Commission of India,” a press release from the ECI said.
It further said, “In this context, it is stated that Election Commission of India has not issued any such direction to CBDT to issue notice to Shri Pawar.”
The clarification came a day after the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief said that the I-T department has served him notice in which it has asked for "clarification and explanation" on his election affidavits.
Pawar, while talking to reporters, disclosed it and also said that he would reply to the notice.
