Nitish Kumar's JDU will withdraw support from BJP government in Manipur

Sources in the Manipur unit said that after the elections, seven JD(U) MLAs had extended support to the Biren Singh government as the party was part of the NDA. Sources said the Manipur unit of JD(U) had discussed the issue in the last meeting of the state executive held on August 10.

Nitish Kumar's JDU will withdraw support from BJP government in Manipur

Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) will soon withdraw support to the BJP government in Manipur. However, BJP sources have said that this does not pose any threat to the Biren Singh government. At present, the BJP-led alliance has the support of 55 MLAs in the 60-seat assembly. It includes seven members of JDU. Here, even if the party withdraws support, the number of the ruling coalition will be 48, which is well above the majority mark of 31. Nitish Kumar ended the alliance with the BJP and walked out of the National Democratic Alliance, but the JDU was giving outside support to the Biren Singh government in Manipur.

The final decision on this will be taken in an important meeting during the meeting of the party's Manipur unit with the national leaders of JDU on September 3-4 in Patna. The BJP and the JD(U) were not in alliance in the state elections held earlier this year. Sources in the Manipur unit said that after the elections, seven JD(U) MLAs had extended support to the Biren Singh government as the party was part of the NDA. Sources said the Manipur unit of JD(U) had discussed the issue in the last meeting of the state executive held on August 10.

Nitish Kumar ended the alliance with the BJP earlier this month. JDU alleged that the BJP was conspiring to replicate the Maharashtra model. Where the Uddhav Thackeray government was revolted by senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, who is now the chief minister. Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the eighth time on 10 August under the leadership of a new grand alliance with Tejashwi Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress and several smaller parties.
