A moment of reflection for Chef Khanna
Khanna remembered a time in 1992 when he was in training at the Mughal Sheraton in Agra, India. His job was working the tandoor during the lunch buffet. One day, Khanna shared, he was bringing fresh rotis to the table during the lunch rush, and he happened to hear a mother reprimanding her son, telling him, "If you don’t take your studies and summer homework seriously, you’ll end up like him."
This remark was, directed toward him, and it stuck with Khanna. "I still remember how the entire table turned to look at me. I smiled and walked away," he wrote.
When he returned home to Amritsar, he told his grandmother about it, and she told him something that would stay with him forever, “Listen to your heart and choose happiness over money. Choose purpose over business.” along with all the meanings one could think, Kanna's grandmother provided him with the confidence to be true to himself to continue his craft for over 40 years.
During their conversation, Ambani shared her vision for the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), stating, "So when Mrs. Ambani visited Bungalow with her vision for #NMACCIndiaWeekend and said, 'This place represents us—our traditions—and honours our ancestors. It is our responsibility to represent our legacy & inheritance.'"
For Khanna, it was nice to feel the moment when he took the memory of his initial struggle and now celebrated, recognized, his journey through the culture he appreciated so deeply.
