On Tuesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting raids on the bases associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his associates in several states. Bishnoi has just been arrested by the NIA in the terrorist-gangster nexus case. During interrogation, the NIA came to know about some conspiracies, after which they decided to conduct a search operation.
An NIA official said, "The investigation has revealed that Lawrence along with his brothers, Sachin and Anmol Bishnoi and associates, as well as Goldie Brar, Kala Jathedi, Kala Rana, Bikram Brar and Sampat Nehra, were involved in such activities through drug smuggling." All were raising funds and weapons to carry out criminal activities and widespread extortion."
Investigation has revealed that a syndicate of terrorists, gangsters and drug smugglers led by Bishnoi was involved in several targeted killings and extortion from businessmen, professionals including doctors and caused widespread fear and panic among the public at large . All such criminal acts were not local incidents, but part of a deep-rooted conspiracy among terrorists, gangsters, drug trafficking cartels and networks operating both within and outside the country.
Most of the conspiracies were hatched from inside the jail by Lawrence Bishnoi and were executed by an organized network of operatives based in India and abroad. "Indeed, Bishnoi is wanted and involved in several cases including conspiracy to commit targeted and sensational killings in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi for more than a decade," the NIA said.
