The body was discovered around 10:30 pm last night, after which the airport security and the nearby police station were contacted. The police took the baby into their custody and rushed it to the hospital, where doctors declared the newborn dead upon examination.
Officials are coordinating with airlines and their passenger records to identify the culprit. The police have registered a case against the unidentified person and launched a detailed probe.Mumbai's Sahar Police have filed a case against an unidentified person and have started an investigation to find out who abandoned the child. The authorities are also examining CCTV footage from the airport premises and analysing forensic data from the scene to trace the person responsible for abandoning the infant. Authorities are also coordinating with airlines and passenger records to narrow down the suspects. Earlier in February this year, two newborn children were found dead and abandoned in Maharashtra's Thane district. A 32-week-old newborn girl was found dead, abandoned by the roadside in a garbage heap in Bhiwandi. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Meanwhile, another newborn baby boy was found dead, abandoned on the roof of a window grill in a building in Thane city.
