Newborn girl found in a heap of garbage amidst heavy rain, police rushed to hospital
According to police officials, at around 8 am on Saturday morning, a PCR was received about a girl child lying in a garbage dump near Rajokri bus stand at Vasant Kunj South police station. Police reached the spot and talked to the caller.

A newborn baby girl was found on a garbage dump near Rajokri Bus Stand in Vasant Kunj South area of the capital Delhi. On getting information, the police took the girl to the hospital. At present, a team of doctors from Fortis Hospital is taking care of the health of the girl child.
According to police officials, at around 8 am on Saturday morning, a PCR was received about a girl child lying in a garbage dump near Rajokri bus stand at Vasant Kunj South police station. Police reached the spot and talked to the caller.
Caller told the police that a three-day-old newborn baby girl was seen lying on a garbage dump near their house. After this he brought this girl to his house, because it was raining heavily outside. He handed the girl over to the police.
According to the report, there is a difference between urban and rural areas in the mortality rate of children under five years of age. In rural areas where there were 36 deaths per thousand children, in cities this number was 21. Infant mortality rate has also registered a double digit decline during the said period and it has come down from 30 per thousand in 2019 to 28 in 2020 (annual decline rate of 6.7 per cent). There has also been a double digit decline in the neonatal mortality rate. In 2019, where 22 children died per 1000 children, in 2020 this number came down to 20 (annual decline rate of 9.1 percent).
