Netflix's Partial Downloads feature allows users to watch shows before the download is finished, now available on Android

Users can finish watching the show at the following stage when they get Internet access.

For Android users, Netflix has brought a new partial downloads feature. As the name implies, this feature will allow users to watch partially downloaded episodes up to the point where they have been downloaded. Earlier, partially downloaded content could not be accessed offline until the download was complete. Netflix launched the download function in 2016 to allow for offline streaming while in flight, on a bus or train, or in regions with inadequate internet.

Moreover, Netflix's partial downloads feature expands on its offline download function by allowing users to watch partially downloaded material as well. When users recover Internet connectivity, they can complete downloading the whole episode or movie, and continue watching the remaining show.

Netflix writes in the blog post: “We've enhanced the Netflix download experience so that you can now begin watching The Mitchells versus The Machines or the next episode of Luis Miguel - The Series even if it hasn't finished downloading yet. Once you've recovered a strong enough connection, you may opt to finish the download and continue viewing — avoiding those unexpected notifications that you've exceeded your data limits.”

As previously stated, this functionality is currently accessible to Netflix customers on Android phones and tablets. In the next months, the business will begin testing on iOS devices. Netflix released a new 'Download For You' option in February of this year, expanding its Smart Downloads experience.

The company's algorithm learns your movie and programme tastes and automatically downloads movies and TV episodes that you might enjoy to aid you when you're stranded without an Internet connection or have a long wait, such as the evening commute.

Earlier, Netflix Smart Downloads could erase previously viewed episodes and download the following episode of a TV series.
