NEET-UG 2024 Row: CBI Takes Over 5 NEET Cases, Visits Bihar EOU Offices
A federal agency said that they would be focusing on questioning Baldev Kumar alias Chintu who was reported to a PDF file of a solved NEET-UG question paper on his phone on May 5.

NEET-UG 2024 Row: Special teams from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have disposed to find the culprit behind the paper leak in the NEET-UG exam. The CBI teams have contacted the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of the Bihar police in Patna and the Gujarat police in Panchmahal district to get more information from the local police about the paper leak.
On Sunday, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan complained to the federal agency after which the agency issued an FIR into matters related to the NEET-UG irregularities.
The federal agency also took over five cases that were filed by Bihar, Gujarat, and Rajasthan police on exam malpractices.

As per the reports, the FIR from Bihar was about the paper leak, while the other four cases—one from Gujarat and three from Rajasthan—were about cheating and impersonation.
A federal agency said that they would be focusing on questioning Baldev Kumar alias Chintu who was reported to a PDF file of a solved NEET-UG question paper on his phone on May 5. He was arrested by Bihar police on Sunday with four other people.
However, 17 more people were taken into custody by the Bihar police and are being questioned.
The results of the NEET exam were released on June 4 and around 67 people got the highest possible score (720) which caused a huge commotion as it is not possible for such a high number of students to score the highest marks.

Thus, the Education Minister later announced that the 1,563 candidates had to take the test again on June 23.
A spokesperson from the Education minister said that they have requested an “comprehensive investigation into the entire gamut of alleged irregularities, including conspiracy, cheating, impersonation, breach of trust, and destruction of evidence by candidates, institutes, and middlemen, including attempted irregularities.”
Bihar Economic Offences Unit officials said, “CBI is also likely to file multiple FIRs in connection with the matter to probe the destruction of evidence, and also register disproportionate assets (DA) cases against some of those accused who are public servants.”
He further said, “A DA case may be registered against arrested accused Sikander Prasad Yadvendu, a junior engineer in Danapur town council, as he reportedly acquired huge assets that are disproportionate to his known source of income.”
