NEET Results 2020: Soyeb Aftab of Odisha, Akanksha Singh of Delhi scored 720 out of 720 marks
NEET is held every year to select candidates for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course. MBBS is a specialized undergraduate degree in medical and surgical medicine which a candidate can get from about 500 medical colleges affiliated to universities across the country.

Two candidates, Soyeb Aftab from Odisha and Akanksha Singh from Delhi have scored the same marks, 720 out of 720, in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020.
However, 18-year-old Aftab has bagged All India Rank (AIR) 1 whereas Singh has been adjudged as AIR 2 due to the criteria to give higher rank to the elder candidate in case their marks tie.

Son of a businessman, Soyeb took coaching from Allen Career Institute in Kota for the past 2 years. He feels happy about his achievement and said that he got benefitted from the lockdown and concentrated on her weak areas.
The second topper Singh is a daughter of a retired sergeant with the Indian Air Force and belongs to the rural Purvanchal belt. She said that she wanted to become an IAS officer but later when she passed class 9, she decided to become a doctor.
13.6 lakh students appeared in NEET this year as compared to 14.1 last year. The drop is due to the COVID-19 pandemic which mandated a nationwide lockdown from March 25 onwards. The National Testing Agency (NTA) held it in two phases and finally declared the result on October 16.
