On Monday, the temple is thronging with devotees. On the first day of Navratri, a Kalash is established in the name of the Goddess. Devotees worship different forms of Durga ji for nine days.
A large number of devotees have come to offer prayers at Jhandewalan Temple in Delhi on the first day of Navratri. 'Aarti' was performed early in the morning on the first day of Navratri at the Mumba Devi temple in Mumbai, Maharashtra. During this a large number of devotees had darshan of Maa Durga.
A special kind of pandal has been built in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. This pandal has been made from thousands of commemorative coins issued since independence on the occasion of 75th year of independence. This special Durga Puja pandal has been made by the Babubagan Sarbajanin Durgotsav Samiti of Kolkata.
Professor Sujata Gupta, Chairperson of the Puja Committee Treasurer told that the theme of our pandal is 'Maa Tujhe Salaam'. We are depicting the struggle of our freedom fighters on the occasion of Durga Puja. It took us about 2 months to make this pandal. About 30-35 lakh rupees have been spent in this.
